time withdraws for a non-moment
and everything happens all at once
left only with a sense of wonder to organize anything
everything you learned in dreams suddenly relevant
snap, and everything is real again
suddenly to find you now are free

I Get Up
Gotten some news recently. First, but not most important, I’m going to have to pay $12,000 in taxes this year. Holy crap on a stick. There’s no way I can afford to pay all of it all at once, so there’s going to be interest and penalties. Then, when I visited my parents last weekend, I found out that my dad most probably suffered a mild stroke just recently. Even before my mom was telling me about it, I could tell he seemed a little off. He talked my mom out of taking him to the hospital, and I get the idea that he didn’t explain it to his doctor, because the doc didn’t give him anything. I convinced him to go see his doctor again. The brother freaked out when I told him about it; he really must learn to keep his cool a bit better. But as I told him, it could have been worse. We’ll see what comes of all this.
In other news, I know Eun Hye is still alive. I saw her login to MSN messenger and then just as abruptly log out. I wonder what she was doing that this should appear to me so. I have written in my Facebook status that I have almost all the pieces of the puzzle. She is the only missing element. I have put it all in the hands of God, the whole matter. And I know that it is soon to happen, but to the Man Upstairs, “soon to happen” can mean 4 to thousands of years. All I can do right now is be patient and trust. For in me I know all it breaks down to is a test of faith: the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The only thing I’m curious about is just in what way this all will happen. For life unfolds in sometimes awkward, sometimes wonderful patterns. And sometimes it is all you need do to sit back and watch it all come to pass, however much you think you can predict how things will go down.
In still other news, I haven’t had coffee since the day before Ash Wednesday. So far, so good. I haven’t really craved it yet, since I am still on the intake as far as caffeine goes. I have a Bawls soda drink when I wake up (I ordered case of it from ThinkGeek) and drink tea otherwise, when the mood hits me to get buzzed on that legal stimulant. Since I’ve ratcheted down my own research, it proves to be not that much a problem right now. I think the timing is, if not perfect, rather ideal. And what else? I’m coming up to writing the climax of my short story about AI (go to palad1n.com, above right, to see what I’ve written so far). And I don’t know right now if my poetry is getting better or worse or just different. I’ve always wanted to get to the third level, the first being emotive, the second being intricate, the third being simple. In order of increasing beauty. This may be the direction I’m heading, or else I’m regressing. But anyway, most things humming along.
In which I get knocked down, but I get up again, yeah you’re never going to keep me down.

All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired, although not in the hour or in the measure, or the very thing which they ask; yet they will obtain something greater and more glorious than they had dared to ask.

Casual(ty?)
Mostly concentrating on the day job right now. Android is pretty cool. Eclipse, too, and the whole environment is also very, very cool. Probably the best environment I’ve ever worked in. Lisp as a language is awesome, but it could definitely learn a thing or two from Java about how to make things just automatic when developing. In other news, I’ve been kinda casual about doing my AI since I last wrote. Still finding out cool stuff, and I wonder if that will ever stop. In still other news, I got spam on Valentine’s Day which apparently was sent out by the ex-girlfriend. From what I can gather, she put her email info into some site and it sent out an email to everyone in her contact list. Which means, as far as anything goes, that I’m still *on* her contact list. I dunno, I just thought it was funny. Anyway.

Tomorrow
I have had it happen before where I thought I saw some grand, fundamental structure in the metaphysics. And then found what I had found either incorrect or not very useful. So you can see why I have been skeptical about the Theoretica.info, version 2. In fact, version 1 was not very useful at all, and perhaps not very correct, either, but at its discovery, I thought I had found THE ANSWER. My trail I have littered with theories, and theories of theories. So I keep waiting for this one to fall apart, basically, or find it is not good for anything at all. What it looks like, though, is that what I have found is basically the core of a reasoning process. One night I blew my own mind thinking that this is what it is. I will try and stay skeptical, but perhaps let myself hope a little.
In other news, I have started my day job. That goes well, so far. Got a lot done first few days, working on a banking app for Android. My machine is finally starting to show its age when I run Eclipse development environment for the Java code, the debugger, along with the Android device emulator. A lot of it is that my MacBook Pro has max RAM at 2 GB, and these days, 4 is probably what would be recommended for anything more than casual use. I can almost feel it swapping out huge swaths of memory to and from disk when changing perspectives in the development environment. Definitely doing not a bad job at all, seeing as how I’ve never even seen an Android app before this, or really coded Java at all for years now. But I suppose things like this are now like riding a bike. Just get on, pedal furiously, and hang on for dear life. And so we go.
Various background processes going on. Thinking about taxes, and I have to ask my accountant what it takes to set up a payment plan this year. I think I’m in for a hefty sum for financial year 2009. Health insurance, too, is a problem, as my old coverage runs out in May, and I found out that Blue Cross’s cheap individual plan for a man of my age is over $1100 a month. Holy crap on a stick. Wondering if I should take a break at all in the AI quest, now that I know I’m stuck doing the day work for at least a couple months. I may have to do some PHP for that iTaxi thing I mentioned months ago. That seems so very stuck in the beginning stages of getting anything happening. I always wanted to do another Facebook application, too, and never got a chance to. And there’s the old PowerMac G4 sitting on my table, waiting for me to see if I can get the files off it I wanted to when I set it up. So, I guess I have no lack of things to do, if I ever felt like it. Wonder what the future holds.
In which all we know of time is change; is it tomorrow yet?

Sidetracked
Tuesday I could feel it coming on, and I was hoping it would come to naught. However, on Wednesday I awoke with a definite feeling of having caught a cold. I took some drugs, and couldn’t think straight for the whole day. Unfortunate. But Thursday I did get a little work done, after which I felt somewhat dizzy. Friday and Saturday were better, and I did discover some good stuff those days. Sunday I skipped going to mass, for I did not want to aggravate this condition in any way. I did not really go out of the apartment much at all. But anyway, put out a feeler for trying to get another day job, and I’m going to go over some old code I wrote, look at some material for getting that paying gig I need right now. As usual, things pretty good. Onward.
